Under 10 (Gubby Allen)
Under 10 Gubby Allen Final 2024 Stanmore CC v Teddington CC
Winners Stanmore CC
On a bright summer day on 18th August, Stanmore and Teddington contested the Under 10 Gubby Allen final held at Ealing Cricket Club. A balanced and strong Stanmore U10 team put up a well-rounded and professional performance to convincingly win the finals of the Gubby Allen Trophy.
Stanmore won the toss and elected to bat. The opening pair of Riaan & Vansh started steadily and rotated the strike well, taking singles at every opportunity. Once they got their eye in, they scored a few boundaries, putting 25 runs on board after 4 overs. Niam and Arjun walked in to bat next hoping to build on the score. However, Jack had other plans as he bowled Niam off his first delivery with a peach of a yorker. Tobias got the wicket of Arjun in the next over putting the pressure back on Stanmore and slowing the run rate. However, the pair kept their calm and slowly consolidated taking the score to 239 after 8 overs.
In next were Harivansh and Oliver. Tobias got his second as he bowled Oliver through the gates. Although Cullan and Tobias bowled a couple of tight overs, the pair batted sensibly, rotating the strike and scoring a boundary each, and further consolidated the batting position taking the score to 257 at the end of 12 overs. Kaian and Yashvir were the 4th pair and were off to a poor start with Arthur getting the wicket of Kaian off his second ball. Thereafter, the pair decided to drop guard and lost no further wickets. Some tight bowling and fielding by Teddington saw them add just 8 runs to the total off their 4 overs. The last pair in were Shiven and Atharva, hoping to score as many runs to put up a defendable final score. Adarsh took the wicket of Shiven in the 17th over to put the pressure back on Stanmore. Teddington were slowly clawing back their way in the game. However, Shiven and Atharva brought out the big hits and ran brilliantly scoring 25 runs in the last three overs of the innings without losing a wicket, taking the final score to 288 which was a below par but competitive total.
In response, captain Oliver from Stanmore started the proceedings with a maiden against Teddington’s opening pair of Jack and Barnaby. Yashvir followed up the brilliant first over by getting the wicket of Jack to start the fall of wickets. In came Atharva and got Barnaby’s wicket off the very first ball he bowled. Some brilliant close in fielding and excellent keeping from Vansh restricted the batsmen from taking any singles and also resulted in a runout in the 4th over – as a result, the score was 203 after 4 overs and Teddington suddenly felt that scoring 89 wouldn’t be an easy task. Alexander and Adarsh walked out to bat next. Kaian bowled a maiden in the 5th over continuing to build on the pressure. However, Adarsh freed the shackles scoring 11 runs of Harivansh over including two boundaries to bring some momentum to the chase. The pair added a further 16 runs in the next two overs taking the total to 232 after 8 overs without losing a wicket in their pair.
Branavan and Cullan walked in next for Teddington. This was the point in the game where the game could tilt either way. Shiven got through Branavan’s defence in the next over. After a poor first over, Harivansh came on to bowl the 10th over which was the turning point of the match. He got the wickets of Cullan off the first ball and Branavan off the fourth ball. The energy and body language of the Stanmore fielders was back; they believed it was their game to lose. Desperate to make up for the two wickets lost, the batsmen tried to sneak a non-existent run that resulted in a run out off the last ball. The pair lost another two wickets in the next two overs including another run out and Arjun cleaning up Callum’s stumps. 21 runs were scored and 6 wickets lost breaking the back of the Teddington chase and the score being reduced to 222 after 12 overs. Freddie and Captain Ben walked in next with a huge job on their hands – both to consolidate and to score big. Some tight bowling by Atharva, Yashvir and Kaian resulted in the pair scoring just 9 runs of their four overs. Both Atharva and Kaian got the wicket of Freddie. Kaian bowled an economical spell conceding just 1 run of his two overs and taking a wicket. The score was 231 after 16.
The final pair of Tobais and Arthur had a mountain to climb as they had to score 58 of the final 4 overs. Shiven came back in the 18th over and got the wicket of Tobias. After a brilliant first over, Oliver finished the proceedings getting Tobias out twice in the 20th over. Teddington fell way short of the target scoring a mere 38 runs which meant that Stanmore won the match by a huge margin of 50 runs. A presentation ceremony was held thereafter where the Gubby Allen Trophy, runners up and winning medals were presented to the players, coaches and umpire.
Well done to Stanmore to win the Gubby Allen Trophy – it was a true team effort. They played very good quality of cricket throughout the tournament and the performance in the final was a testament of the great camaraderie between the players, team work, perseverance and a determination to win. A huge thank you to all the parents, coaches, managers for making this possible.
Under 11 County Cup
Under 11 County Cup Final 2024 Old Ealing CC v Teddington CC
Winners – Teddington CC
A beautiful sunny day stages our thrilling final at the glorious NPL Cricket Club, with hardly a cloud in the sky. Our two excellent teams provide great cricket for the spectators to watch while the light sprinkles of dew evaporate into the cool air. Suspense is built while the two captains toss the coin. Teddington emerges victorious and sends Ealing into bat.
The Teddington attack was opened by Clothier and Jolliffe, who pinned down the Ealing openers, Drysdale and Fasanya, and after 6 overs Ealing were sparse of runs with just 16 on the board, and no boundaries, also thanks to some brilliant fielding by Rowan, King, Stephenson and Grewal (the days un-sung heroes).
Bason and Elliott came on as the first change pair, and after facing significant scoreboard pressure, the openers began to hit out. In Bason’s second over, Drysdale narrowly missed a ball that went on to hit the top of his off stump, and was dismissed for 12. After an economical start from Elliott, new bowler Mayouran produced the second wicket of the match on his first ball, which bowled and dismissed Fasanya for 11. After two more runs, at the end of that over, the 11th, Ealing were struggling at 41 for 2.
The two new batsmen, Dhungana and Vanmeeganathan had a job to do and Dhungana managed to find the boundary with the third ball of Elliott’s next over. However, disaster then struck for Ealing. Dhungana hit out at the next delivery, and skied it towards the point area. Elliott, running around, stayed calm and held on to a brilliant diving catch, to make it 50 for 3. The new batsmen, Sharma then called Vanmeeganathan for a single to mid-on, and sent him back. Despite Vanmeeganathan’s greatest efforts as he scrambled back, Jolliffe produced an exceptional piece of fielding, and a direct hit proved the demise for Vanmeeganathan.
After the next over, it looked like it would have to be a fight for Ealing to get to the hundred, at 57 for 4. In the fifth ball of Elliott’s next over, the left-handed Sharma sent the ball high, and Clothier, running in from mid-off, tumbled and took another good catch to dismiss Sharma for 10. In the 16th over, new batsman Joglekar produced two good strokes, each bringing him four runs. To Teddington’s credit, the runs dried up and not a single boundary was scored in the last four overs. Teddington had bowled and fielded brilliantly, and credit also to some superb wicketkeeping by Galaustian. They had managed to restrict Ealing to 99 for 5 off 20 overs, which left Teddington needing 100 to win.
The stage was now set for a thrilling run chase – the weather became quite hot, and the pitch became dry, which meant it would give a little extra bounce in the Teddington innings.
Teddington openers Singh and Mayouran came out to face Ealing bowlers Dhungana and Mohammed and the first two overs went for 9 runs. In the next over, the extra bounce helped Dhungana and there was a query among players, umpires and spectators alike whether it hit Mayouran’s arm or his bat and dropped into the gloves of Cavanagh. In the end, the umpire raised his finger, and Mayouran had to go. Overs three and four went for 6 runs apiece, while the fifth went for 5. New batsman, Elliott, settled in nicely, but it wasn’t long until Singh got bowled by a ball which might have done a little more off the surface, after a partnership of eighteen. This meant that after the sixth over, Elliott and new partner Jolliffe had taken the score to 30 for 2. Elliott’s first boundary came in the next over and the runs flowed steadily from the willow. At the end of the twelfth over, the momentum was with Teddington, with the score at 86 for 2. After the fourth ball of the next over, Elliott hit a massive six, the first of the game, bringing up his 50. He took the applause and raised his bat to acknowledge a brilliant half-century on the biggest of Middlesex U11 stages. When the next over began, with Jolliffe facing, Teddington needed just one more run to win. After a couple of nervous dot balls, Jolliffe secured the win with a graceful pull to square-leg to bring his ecstatic teammates running onto the field, creating scenes of joy from both Teddington players and spectators. This was a huge achievement for the players who had worked so hard for this, as well as for the parents, age-group managers, Bella and Rob, and all of Teddington’s coaching team, especially head coach Rocky. A big thank you goes out to everyone that made this such a special day for all concerned, especially the match officials (including the MJCA officials), the umpires (inc Amit, who stepped in at square leg), the scorers (inc Ian) and Natalie and the grounds staff at NPL.
Under 11 County League Knock Out
Under 11 County League Knock Out Final 2024 Old Merchant Taylors CC v Ealing CC
OMT WON BY 34 RUNS; OMT 110 for 8 wkts; Ealing 76 for 8 wkts
On sunny August day, Ealing & OMT contested the U11 County League Final at Teddington CC. OMT were defending their title against a strong Ealing side who are no strangers to playing in the finals at all ages. OMT reached the final with a series of dominant performances while Ealing defeated a strong Teddington side in the semi-final en route to the final.
Ealing won the toss and elected to field hoping to restrict the OMT batting juggernaut and were vindicated of their decision to bowl first as Loe and Aaryan blew away the OMT top order in the space of 3 overs (10 runs for 3 wkts). OMT needed to steady the ship, and they managed that with a 50 run partnership from Nirvan and Aarav to move the momentum away from the opposition. At this stage OMT batters were looking to take the innings into the final overs and waited to dispatch the bad balls and any extras Ealing offered. Two quick wkts again halted the OMT progress and with 7 overs remaining OMT had reached 60 runs with half the side back in the hutch. Krish (11) and Navan (19) pushed the score over the hundred mark with the final total of 110 runs for 8 wkts.
In pursuit of a decent OMT total, Ealing were pushed back after Reyansh got the early breakthrough removing opener Joglekar and there after OMT captured regular wkts and halting the Ealing run rate by setting deep fields. Spinners Sam & Aarav bowling in partnership taking 4 wkts between them. Special mention to Rohan who took an outstanding catch to affect the game. There were many promising young players from both sides who put on show worthy of a final. Thank you to Teddington CC for providing outstanding facilities.
Under 12 County League Knock Out
Under 12 County League Knock Out Final 2024 Old Merchant Taylors CC v Richmond CC
OMT WON BY 8 Wickets; OMT 111 for 2 wkts (17.5); Richmond 110 for 9 wkts (20)
After a week-long delay due to wet weather, both teams finally arrived at Sunbury Cricket Ground on the reserve day, eager to contest the U12 League Knockout finals. The forecast looked promising, but the early start meant chilly conditions with plenty of dew on the ground.
Richmond won the toss and opted to bat first. Both teams started well, with Richmond rotating the strike and OMT keeping things tight with the ball, though no significant breakthroughs were made early on. Richmond steadily kept the scoreboard moving.
The first wicket fell in the 11th over, with Richmond sitting comfortably at 68 runs. A big round of applause followed as Finn reached a well-earned half-century off 49 balls. This was achievement was short lived as Ashmeet got the set batsman out with an outstanding catch by Divit. However, despite his solid performance, wickets began to tumble rapidly as OMT’s bowling attack gained momentum and they conceded very limited runs in the last 9 overs. Richmond’s score quickly deteriorated from 93-2 to 110-8 in just 7 overs. Richmond ended their innings on 110 runs, a total well below the promising start provided by their opening partnership.
Flying start by OMT, early boundaries resulting 43 runs scored in 6 overs by OMT. There was early drama with a sky-high shot which lands comfortably into the keeper’s gloves, disarray in the middle, Neil starts walking back, however there was a no ball called and all sorts of calls coming from the crease and Neil somehow scurried back to his crease by the skin of his teeth to avoid what could have been a messy a run out.
WICKET, Neil caught at 16 off 28, hitting it straight to the fielder’s hands, Richmond send their first man to hutch in the 8th over, Finn marking his place with ball as well as the bat determined to win. Another wicket in 9th over straight bowled on the first ball, but OMT have the benefits of wickets in hand. Game on 64 runs on the board, 47 runs required off 10 overs as we reach the halfway mark with plenty of wickets in hand. Over 11 to 15 steady run rate achieved with a boundary in each over with a few cheeky singles from overthrows. 20 runs required, 15 overs done, 8 wickets in hand total runs 91. Richmond still digging deep bowling. Drop catch in the deep at a crucial point how many lives does the batsman have, he is still at the crease hoping to stay till the end. Over 17 the best over of the match for OMT, leaving 6 runs required to WIN at the start of the 18th. Mo’s resilience at the crease and Arnav’s crucial contributions of 22 off 24 were key highlights. it’s always special to see a player like Mo carry through from start to finish, even falling just short of a half-century. Key bowler Manav delivered an impressive opening spell from the pavilion end, maintaining a disciplined line and length. By keeping it simple, he created opportunities while restricting the opposition to just 12 runs off his 4 overs. Additionally, Divit’s outstanding spin bowling during the middle overs triggered a domino effect of falling wickets, securing 4 wickets in his 4 overs, just one short of a five-wicket haul. Kudos to Sunbury for providing an excellent venue for such a memorable match on the last sunny day of the 2024 cricket season!
Under 13 County Cup
Under 13 County Cup Final 2024 Richmond CC v Hampstead CC
Winners – Richmond CC
Hampstead won the toss and asked Richmond to bat. Richmond raced to 153 for 5 off the 20 overs. Richmond’s top order setting a great platform, with both openers Thomas Tijerina and George Speers getting max of 30+ for this competition and got retired not out. This allowed the lower order to capitalise on the middle and end overs of Hampstead’s spell. Jamie Human (21) and Charlie Durling (22) being the batsmen making the most impact on this stage of the game.
Cricket being the beautiful game it is, allows both teams to win a cricket game after the change, Richmond needed to defend their total set with accurate bowling and fielding or Hampstead had to attack the 153 run target set by Richmond to win the game. Richmond took the early advantage here with Charlie Durling taking the wickets of 3 of the Hampstead’s top order and doing a run out of one of the Hampstead opening batsmen Rufus Jewell. Saul Bitram for Hampstead put up a fight on behalf of his team and dug deep to fend off the Richmond bowling onslaught and also chalked up a score of 30+ retired not out.
Under the pressure of Richmond’s remaining bowling attack and their fielding Hampstead ended on 61 for 8 off 14.5 overs.

Under 15 County Cup
Under 15 County Cup Final 2024 Ealing CC v Sunbury CC
Winners – Ealing CC
Ealing won the toss and elected to bowl. Ealing set the tone early in the game with a disciplined and energetic effort in the field. Opening bowler, Shivank, struck in the fourth over, claiming the first wicket and immediately putting Sunbury under pressure. The momentum continued with pace bowler, Nathan, who showcased exceptional accuracy and skill, taking two wickets in the fifth over and adding another in the eighth. By this point, Sunbury was reeling at 22-3.
The pressure remained relentless as Shivanks sharp work in the field resulted in a crucial run-out from Rutiks delivery. In the same over, Rutik followed with a brilliant delivery that forced a simple catch for Aryan, adding another wicket to the tally. Rohan kept the momentum going with two quick dismissals, and Veer wrapped up the innings in style, executing a superb caught-and-bowled effort on his second delivery. Sunbury was bowled out for just 49 runs.
Ealing’s chase began with Veer and Ryaan opening the batting. The pair provided a solid start, scoring a steady 31 runs together. Despite losing three wickets, Ealing comfortably reached the target within nine overs, showcasing their dominance across all aspects of the game.
This emphatic win as County Cup champions highlighted Ealings outstanding teamwork, skill, and determination, setting a high standard for the matches ahead.
Under 15 County League Knockout
Under 15 County League KO Final 2024 Sunbury CC v Ealing CC
Winners – Sunbury CC
Fortunately, the afternoon weather was kind to all concerned after a deluge of rain the previous evening, this along with a later start time enabled this much anticipated final to take place. With the pitch being under covers for some time Ealing elected to have first use and bowl first.
Sunburys openers Unni and Mehmi started on the attack and raced to 28 from the first three overs before off spinner Iyer removed both Mehmi for a quick fire 17 and the dangerous Goldney batting at 3 in quick succession. Unni and Maunders steadied the innings with a controlled partnership of 41 before Unni was run out in unfortunate circumstances for a very well made 36 from 32 deliveries. Sunbury were 85-3 but that soon became 110-7 as they felt the pressure form the Ealing bowlers and fielders. Obhrai played well for 17 before Zach Barnes, batting at number 8 struck a vital 21 off 16 deliveries to get Sunbury up to a total score of 133-9 from their allotted 20 overs. Ealing bowled and fielded well with a special mention to R Hussain their wicket keeper/captain who was excellent behind the stumps, the pick of the Ealing bowlers was the brisk Jakkappagol with figures of 3-16 from his 3 overs.
Many would have viewed this as around a par score, however both teams would have been well aware of the slowness of the outfield and that score being potentially worth a few more, at the half way point the game was well poised and both teams confident with Sunbury bowling in what was effectively a home tie in conditions they were familiar with and Ealing with a very strong batting line up.
The Ealing innings got off to a flyer with openers Patel and Navad putting on a quick fire 39 with both players clearing the ropes with fierce pull shots. Johal, Sunburys left arm swing bowler was bowling with great rhythm, and he applied the breaks in a tremendous 5th over and this wicket maiden where he removed Navad was the catalyst for Sunbury to apply some pressure on the Ealing batters with their four completely different spin options. Goldney was the first to be introduced into the attack and bowled with great control and skill, he was rewarded with two big wickets. Patel and Rajapaske played well after the cluster of wickets and got their side back in the ascendancy at 80-3 albeit still needing over a run a ball. When Rajapaske was bowled by the off spin of Maunders for 19 the game was very well set up and could go either way from here, it was a case who could hold their nerve and take their side home, patel was looking in fantastic form and was no doubt the player that Ealing would have been looking at to do exactly this. Lewis, Ealings number six looked dangerous from the off and sent his second delivery over the ropes, he was a key wicket for Sunbury, well stumped by Mehmi off the legspin of Unni. Mehmi had followed on the excellent wicket keeping standards set and had a great 20 overs behind the stumps, neither Wicket keeping from each team conceding a single bye. Ealing needed 38 from the final 4 overs, Patel having just raised his bat for a beautifully constructed half century including 2 maximums and 4 fours. This became 27 from 3 overs, the skilful leg spinner Conners stepped up to bowl the 18th which looked to be the turning point as he dismissed both Patel and Dhasmana both to return catches, one high and one hit like a rocket by Dhasmana only for Conners to cling on to a screamer, the over only went for four runs and Sunbury took control.
Sunbury defended the boundaries very well with some brilliant ground fielding from the likes of Martin who was a standout in this dept assisted by Williamson and Ahmed; they all saved crucial runs, and the bowlers remaining disciplined despite the efforts of the Ealing batters who rotated but the boundaries eluded them, the last over was to be bowled by the impressive Johal and the target was 16 runs which seemed a tough task and so it proved with Sunbury CC eventually winning by 8 runs.
There was some fantastic cricket on display during this match and it was played in the most tremendous spirit and huge credit to both sets of players and coaching teams for this, it was great to see players all respecting one another, officials and the game itself, in addition the winners being humble and runners up gracious and players from both sides mixing and chatting after the game itself. It was also well officiated and supported with both sets of supporters enjoying the cricket, encouraging their team at the same time acknowledging the excellent cricket played by both teams.

Under 17 County Cup Final 2024 Ealing CC v Sunbury CC
Winners – Ealing CC
On a roasting hot day in Teddinton Ealing met Sunbury for what would be the first of their MJCA U17 finals in 2024. Sunbury batted first with Nate striking a couple of meaty 4s before falling to Abhishek on last ball of the 1st over. The very next ball Sunbury captain Aaditya suffered the indignity of being run out without facing a ball, before Ealing off-spinner Priyatam completed a double-wicket maiden in the 4th over to leave Sunbury reeling on 17 for 4. A spirited fightback from Aryan was kept in check by Ealing taking wickets at the other end, as Sunbury were bowled out for what looked like a below par 105 in their 20 overs. Aryan fell one short of what would have been a well deserved half-century.
Jake and captain Absar opened up for Ealing against the impressive Rajveer. Rajveer had the upper hand in the opening couple of overs bowling full and straight with plenty of swing to restrict Ealing to a slow start. However, once Rajveer dropped short in the 5th over Absar took the attack to Sunbury hitting 5 consecutive boundaries before being bowled on the last ball of the over trying to complete the set. Ahead of the rate Ealing looked much more comfortable and steady contributions from Ryaan, Aadvik and Lakshman took Ealing to victory by 6 wickets with 8 balls to spare despite good bowling and fielding from the Sunbury side.
Under 17 County League Knockout
Under 17 County League Knockout Final 2024 Ealing CC v Sunbury CC
Winners – Ealing CC
Yet another engaging final between Ealing and Sunbury at NPL that could have gone either way.
Ealing won the toss and decided to bowl first. Priyatam Kantilal delivering a maiden of tight off-spin as Sunbury looked to prevent a repeat of the cup final held a month ago where they had lost too many early wickets. Gradual acceleration from Sunbury took them to 34-0 from the power play with openers Kajus Syed and Matthew Gillespie laying a solid platform before a double-strike in the 7th over from Priyatam. For the next 6 overs Sunbury upped the scoring rate and looked like they could be imposing a big total before Noah Lovell came on and stemmed the flow with a double-wicket maiden and Nate Bhardwaj, Sunbury’s main aggressor, had the misfortune of hitting his wicket when facing Rutik Kantilal. A strong final few overs from Aryan Mittra and Sarthak Thakur took Sunbury up to what looked like a par score of 136-8.
In reply Jake Bridge and Absar Muhhamad got Ealing off to a solid start in the power play staying up with, but not ahead of, the required run rate of 7 runs an over. This would be a theme throughout the innings where any attempts to get ahead of the rate would be kept in check by Sunbury taking a key wicket. This lasted until the end of the 17th over. At this stage Ealing were 5 wickets down needing 21 to win with leg-spinner Zain Ahmed bowing to captain Rohan Paul and the match very much in the balance. A wicket now and it felt like Sunbury would be ahead going into the final 2 overs with new batters at the crease, but it was Ealing that blinked first with Rohan taking 12 from the over with some excellent calculated aggression. From there Ealing saw it home relatively comfortably with 2 balls to spare and Rohan finishing on a very well constructed 39 not out from 28 balls, ably supported by Akein Rajapakse.

There was not a final but the U10 softball league was a first time entry for Shepherds Bush CC in 2024. It was new to the girls, and to their new manager/coach, Lucie. They had a brilliant season, winning their 4 competitive league fixtures. There were a few instances of the opposition conceding, but we persevered regardless and enjoyed some fun intraclub friendlies instead. U10 softball is such a brilliant opportunity for the girls to put their cricket training into practice, and to really build a cohesive team spirit while enjoying competitive games in a fun, spirited environment. Certainly a league we will be looking forward to entering again next year!

Girls Under 13 County Cup 2024 – Ealing CC vs Richmond CC
Winners – Richmond CC
This was the last match of the season for both teams, Richmond and Ealing had already played earlier in the season. Ealing won the first encounter when they showed Richmond their excellent bowling attack. This, however, was more than just an end of season cup match. This was also Pinal Gandhi’s (the age group manager for Ealing) last match managing Ealing. Pinal is a fantastic manager and we were all sorry to see him step down. Having known Pinal for a number of years and seen Richmond and Ealing play some great matches against each other it was fitting that both sides would play against each other in this final match.
Richmond won the toss and the Richmond captain decided to bowl first. A great spell of opening bowling saw Ealing lose 3 very quick wickets. For a short period it looked as thought the match may be over very quickly. The depth of Ealing should not be underestimated, a period of containment then followed by some outstanding batting left the match delicately balanced.
Richmond made steady progress then lost a first wicket. Again, the match was in the balance but Richmond really knuckled down with the bat. Ealing looked to throw everything at Richmond until the last ball but strong and steady batting let Richmond get over the line.
The match finished with a great atmosphere. We were able to say a few words at the end to thank Pinal for his years of commitment and work. The parents and girls stayed late to celebrate a great season of cricket.
